As an organization of professionals and allied workers engaged or interested in radiation protection activities, PARP aims to promote radiation safety and protection in medicine, industry, research and education which has an increasing number of users over the years.

To present and discuss the different issues in radiation protection that the country is currently facing, technical sessions will be delivered encompassing the different practices. Scientific lectures will be delivered by experts in the field from the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, Bureau of Health Devices and Technology-DOH and other experts to include:

• International Basic Safety Standards for Radiation & the WHO and IAEA Initiatives in Radiation Protection in Medicine
• Radiation Protection Considerations in the Design and Use of Radiography Systems, Radiation Therapy Facilities, & Nuclear Medicine Units
• Radiation Protection in Non-ionizing Radiation
  Nuclear Power and Safety Issues
• Radiation Protection Considerations in the Design and Use of Baggage & Cargo Inspection X-ray Systems and Industrial X-ray Units

The Philippine Association for Radiation Protection (PARP) – Cebu Chapter will hold their 5th Biennial Chapter Convention on 7 March 2009. The theme for the Convention is:

“Meeting New Challenges in Radiation Protection: The New ICRP Recommendations”.

PARP-Cebu aims to provide a medium by which its members can communicate more readily with others and through this process, advance the science of radiation protection. The peaceful applications of radiation in our country have continued to increase which brings to fore the need to draw greater consciousness of safety in the use of radiation. In this regard, the role that organizations like the PARP can play bears attention.

Scientific lectures will be delivered by experts in the field from the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) and the Bureau of Health Devices and Technology (BHDT)-DOH to include:
