How Earth Budgets Its Energy Through Radiation
The Earth’s climate system constantly tries to maintain a balance between the energy that reaches the Earth from the Sun and the energy that is emitted to space. Scientists refer to this process as Earth’s “radiation budget”. On the Moon where there is no atmosphere, a surface temperature far below freezing emits enough radiation to balance the absorbed solar energy. Because of the tilt of the Earth’s axis, incoming solar radiation is not evenly distributed on the Earth’s surface and seasonal changes occur. The Sun is not in the exact center of the Earth’s orbit. Claimed Hazardous Effects of Radiation Emitted by Cellphones: Facts to Ponder
In my previous post, I claimed that there is no proven health effects from radiation emitted by cellular phones based on what I have learned from seminars on Radiation Protection that I have attended. Recently I have read this article and I want to share it with you. Note that I still stand with my opinion and it is up to you to ponder on the following facts. Some Interesting Facts About Cellphones Did You Know? That up to 60% of the radiation emitted by a typical cell phone, (enough to cause heating), will be absorbed by the user?s head? Mammography Causes Breast Cancer: Is this True?
This article talks about the health risk that mammography poses to women. Breast Cancer is the leading cause of death among American women between the ages of 44 and 55. Dr. Gofinan, in his book, Preventing Breast Cancer, cites this startling statistic along with an in-depth look at mammographic screening, an early-detection practice that agencies like the American Cancer Society recommend to women of all age groups. According to most health experts, catching a tumor in its early stages increases a woman’s chances of survival by at least 17 percent. The most common method for early detection is mammography.
