Earth is Naturally Radioactive
Many materials – both natural and manmade -that we come into contact with in our everyday lives are radioactive, as I have mentioned from my past posts. These materials are composed of atoms that release energetic particles or waves as they change into more stable forms. These particles and waves are referred to as radiation, and their emission as radioactivity.Cosmic Radiation Cosmic radiation is high-energy gamma radiation that originates in outer space and filters through our atmosphere. Sea Level= 26 mrem/year Atlanta (1,050 ft)= 31 mrem/year Denver (5,300 ft)= 50 mrem/year Minneapolis (815 ft)= 30 mrem/year Salt Lake (4,000 ft)= Click Here To Read More
Too Much Radiation, Like Too Much of Anything, is Harmful.
Most radiation comes to us from the sun and from cosmic radiation — so that people at higher elevations like Colorado and adjacent Rocky Mountain States receive more than those who live at sea level. However, a lot of radiation also comes from the soil and rocks around us. There are also some Promotional Gifts that contains Granite and marble have background levels of radioactivity. A relatively small additional amount comes from our man-made technology. Too much radiation, like too much of anything, is harmful. We know about this harm from research and from accidents, and from the effects Click Here To Read More
Radiation: One of the Causes of Global Warming
Global warming (also called the greenhouse effect) describes the gradual increase of the air temperature in the earth’s lower atmosphere. A greenhouse is made entirely of glass. When sunlight (shortwave radiation) strikes the glass, most of it passes through and warms up the plants, soil and air inside the greenhouse. As these objects warm up they give off heat, but these heat waves have a much longer wavelength than the incoming rays from the sun. This longwave radiation cannot easily pass through glass, it is re- radiated into the greenhouse, causing everything in it to heat up. THE NATURAL GREENHOUSE Click Here To Read More
